    Help Texts is not therapy, but our research shows that grief-informed texting is definitely therapeutic. You don't need to talk to anyone and can simply read your carefully tailored texts when the timing is right for you. Our subscriber support team members are all mental health professionals who read all inbound texts and will respond to technical questions or if someone is in crisis.

  • Is this a way for me to get grief counselling or therapy?

    No, Sue Ryder Grief Coach is not a substitute for counselling or therapy. We offer education and support via text message, and are proud to be making grief support accessible and affordable in this way, but would encourage you to also work one-on-one with a therapist, if that is an option for you. Of course Sue Ryder Grief Coach can still be a great adjunct to therapy, providing additional support to you, and helping those around you too. Friends and family generally do not access therapy after a loss, so Sue Ryder Grief Coach is a good way for them to get tips and suggestions, so that they can in turn support you.

  • How often will I receive texts?

    Texts are sent twice a week, with extra texts in the first few weeks and on significant dates.

  • What if I don't want to receive texts anymore?

    You can text STOP at any time if you'd like to stop receiving Sue Ryder Grief Coach messages. Text START if you'd like to resume messages.

  • Will my information be kept private?

    Absolutely. Help Texts adheres to strict privacy and security guidelines. Your data will not be shared with any 3rd parties.

  • Does insurance cover my subscription?

    While some individual Help Texts users have been successful in having their Help Texts subscriptions reimbursed, Help Texts is not contracted through any insurance providers, unfortunately. We’re working on it, and in the meantime are working hard to remain affordable, with a full year of support costing less than a single hour of therapy.

  • Is it true that you'll send texts to my friends and family, as part of my single subscription?

    Yes, that's right. We believe that all grieving people should have the support of friends and family, so each subscription includes text support for the grieving person as well as gentle coaching for the people who want to support them. You can have up to 2 supporters per subscription.

  • Can I purchase a smaller subscription?

    Enterprise customers purchasing large subscription packages can opt for 3 or 6-month subscriptions, however, our research clearly shows that 12-month subscriptions that provide ongoing care throughout the year and on important dates are the most impactful and cost-effective solution for the vast majority of situations. Our research shows that having support available during key milestone moments is particularly valuable for healing.

  • What's the best way to invite supporters to be part of my Sue Ryder Grief Coach subscription? I'd love to have their support this year, but I feel awkward asking for their help.

    Asking people to support you can be hard, so here's some suggested language to get you started.

    "Hi XXXX. I have signed up for a service called Sue Ryder Grief Coach, that delivers personalised grief support via text, and am finding the messages comforting and useful.   • What kinds of bereavement do you support?

    Sue Ryder Grief Coach provides support for people experiencing all types of bereavement. Specifically, we have text messages for people who have been bereaved following: accidents, Alzheimer's/dementia, cancer, cardiovascular disease, Covid-19, drug/alcohol related death, murder, natural causes, other illness, stillbirth, stroke, sudden infant/child death, suicide and termination of a pregnancy for medical reasons.

  • Can we pay quarterly?

    Yes, we offer quarterly payment options for organisational and enterprise customers.

  • What does onboarding look like?

    Onboarding is surprisingly quick and simple. There's nothing to integrate, no API connections, and nothing to install or download. Help Texts will create your custom sign up link and page which your team can then make available through your pre-existing communication channels. We'll also provide custom marketing materials with your own QR code, which you can share via a link in emails, texts, website pages, or internal portals.

  • What information is included in my data analytics dashboard?

    Enterprise customers have 24/7 access to their own dashboard that includes de-identified qualitative and quantitative data. You can view real-time metrics showing subscriptions used and remaining, signup and unsubscribe rates, and demographic information (location, gender, age group, relationship, cause of death or diagnosis). The dashboard also displays survey results and message reactions, giving you comprehensive insights into how subscribers engage with and benefit from the service.

  • Will you help our team with adoption?

    We provide guidance and support to help you promote Help Texts through your existing channels. Organisational and enterprise customers will receive custom flyers, QR codes, scripts, and social media content to help them maximize awareness and build adoption. Sign-up rates largely depend on how effectively your team integrates these materials into your regular communications about services. Our most successful partners make Help Texts a visible part of their ongoing support offerings.

  • Who do I contact if we run out of subscriptions or need assistance?

    Help Texts enterprise customers have a dedicated Account Manager who will be in regular communication with you and always available to add subscriptions when you’re getting low or provide additional support and assistance as needed. All customers receive account support as well as monthly usage reports that make it easy to track usage. We’ll be here for you every step of the way.

  • What forms of payment are accepted?

    Organisations can pay via ACH or check. Individual subscriptions can be paid via PayPal or credit card.

  • What if I don’t need all 12 months of my subscription?

    You determine how long you'd like receive support. When you feel you've received enough support, simply reply with STOP and your service will end. If you hit a rough patch and want to restart services within your year of allocated support, text START and your messages will resume.
